Bicycle Sharing Innovations in India - Jason and Julien

The idea is to design a bike-sharing service in Ahmedabad, starting from those
already in use abroad (e.g. “Velib’” in France), or in India (e.g. “FreMo” in Thane/
Mumbai, “Share and Ride” in Pune, “GreenBIKE” in New-Dehli, “ReDiscover
Bicyle” in Ahmedabad), but with several differences, trying to address the
challenges faced by such schemes in India, as well providing further innovations.

The objective is to provide a service which is convenient (e.g. point-to-point
/ one-way, multi-modality possible), easy to access (e.g. hubs in strategic
locations), adapted (e.g. bike-size to facilitate flow in traffic), cheap (e.g. little
initial investment, cheap rates) and which promotes a better environment (e.g.
man-powered or electric powered for less pollution or noise).
