Water Purification Franchise System for Rural India

Our project looks at innovation in the water market in India's rural areas. It allows for purified water on a franchise based idea for all people.
The project we are pursuing involves the setting up of a water purification franchise system that allows purified water to be bought in rural markets. The inspiration behind the innovation comes from the ATM machine. This system is very similar to the common ATM as we understand it today.
In effect, this franchise system would therefore enable job creation in rural areas.
We would be exploring the success factors for rural adoption as well as how this can impact the lives of rural folk.
Please comment on this idea and the challenges and hurdles that we might face, please do let us know. Your input would be highly appreciated, and acknowledged in our final report.

  1. The interface between the "ATM" and the user is of great importance concerning the literacy rate in rural India

  2. Are you looking at bottled water? Or establishing separate purification plants for each franchisee?

We had a discussion in a previous class that it would be beneficial to have a community facilities for such purposes. Private services may become unfeasible for such a public good
